This is a new video release today by IGN.com, huge thanks to them for providing this. They have been given, by Climax, the first 9 minutes of the game. For any fan that is truly excited about the game, this is a godsend. If you don’t want spoilers then KEEP AWAY. This will be packed! [Click all the images to enlarge]
The trailer starts off with a blurry red screen and a listen-in on a voice conversation with Travis and a trucker friend (?). This small bit of talking really shows how Travis is just a normal trucker. While he drives along in the truck on his way "through Silent Hill then to Brahams for coffee" whilelistening to a familiar Akira Yamaoka piece, he has little flashbacks of what could be a hint into his mental anguish which was mentioned before to play a big part. He remembers a graveyard, a funeral and what appears to be his younger self looking very depressed into a hole ready to be filled with someone's body. The radio conversation suggests his parents'.
Suddenly, something or more accurately someone in the road forces him to stop. He gets out to investigate only to find no one is there. This next bit is creepy! You have to watch it to get the full effect. In the dark with headphones on the PSP worked well for me. He looks in his mirror to see Alessa floating towards him, turns and no one is there. He falls back turns around to see her facing the other way. Eerily she turns and looks at him then runs off. Naturally, he follows.
This bit is cool. A new track straight from Akira Yamaoka, sung by Mary Elizibeth, plays as Travis persues her down the long road to Silent Hill while some credits roll. The music is truely Akira Yamaoka / Mary style, its perfect. To download the "preview" (sorry, there are footsteps in the background and itsonly a few seconds because the player exits the road) click here. [Thank you 2nd_Gig for the rip] Before he reaches the town, he realises something; "Its not fog, it's smoke!" as he stares are the famous flaming house. Before he runs into the house, he notices a woman hiding behind some trees. She sees him then quickly flees. Since Dahlia caused the fire, this is more than likely her. Now for some gameplay. If you haven't already seen the Burning House video then this is it. Travis runs into the house, quickly makes it up the stairs before they crumble, attempt to open some doors, however; "Something is blocking it,I can't open the door." classic! He tries two doors, and the third one works. He enters, navigates his way round the flaming attic and despite her request to burn, saves the crispy Alessa. After escaping the burning house, he sets Alessa down on the grass and assures her she is safe. (Yeah, right) He calls for help, and the lull of the siren causes him collapse.
Maybe this is over-analysis, but Silent Hill 1 fans will smile at the way Travis wakes up on the bench in shock. After he has woken up and realised where he is, he grabs a map and tells himself that he needs to make sure "that girl" is ok. He concludes that she must be at the hospital so he heads that way. This part of the game is then skipped and jumps right into a nurse fight. The cineractive scene kicks in and Travis actually wins this time! (Im previous game play videos he got stabbed both times) He beats the Nurse to death with the sledge hammer and the video ends.
Any Silent Hill fan or any horror fan for that matter is going to love this game if this video is an example of what's in store for us. It truly looked amazing, every aspect of it was completely Silent Hill. Old traditions seem to be intact and the storyline looks promising. We can only hope that Silent Hill: Origins will answer some questions about the creepy town of Silent Hill, however, you and I both know its just going to raise more.
